It’s been a long time since my last post. But now i’m back with a lot of brand new song to discuss. Hehehe… maklum pisan yah.. gue lagi lumayan sibuk sama kerjaan di kantor, juga banyak kesibukan di luar kantor yang bikin gue ngga sempet ngetik ato nyari-nyari info untuk lagu yang mau gue review. Tapi di sela-sela kesibukan gue itu, gue masih sempet untuk nyari-nyari lagu yang bakal gue review. Mudah-mudahan aja ntar gue ngga terlalu sibuk buat review lagu. Gue juga lagi mau bikin blog satu lagi buat bener-bener misahin tulisan gue sama musik. Gue mau bikin blog ini khusus buat musik aja. Hehehe…

Buat lagu perdana setelah sekian lama gue pilih lagu dari hoobastank, so close so far. Udah lumayan lama lagu ini masuk ke playlist gue, bahkan pada saat itu kayaknya lagu ini belom jadi new entry di radio jakarta. Gue pilih lagu ini soalnya awalnya gue agak penasaran sama konsistensi band ini di jalur rock. Walau lagu the reason bisa gue bilang lagu bagus, tapi sempet bikin gue jadi agak kecewa sama hoobastank. Tapi kayaknya di album baru mereka, for(N)ever, mereka udah mulai balik lagi bikin lagu rock seperti yang biasa mereka bikin.

Lagu So Close So Far sendiri adalah single kedua setelah My Turn yang lebih dulu dirilis sebagai single. Lagu ini juga sedikit lebih soft daripada My Turn. Tapi masih bisa kerasa bagian rocknya terutama di bagian reff. Soalnya emang lagu ini adalah lagu rock romantis. Bisa langsung keliatan dari liriknya juga kok. Tapi ngga selembut The Reason. Well.. gue masih lebih enjoy dengerin My Turn sih. But it’s really good to hear they’re back.

Alex Band – Only One | Song Review & Lyrics

Iseng-iseng buka website tentang musik alternative, gue dapet info kalo Alex Band, eks vokalis The Calling, baru bikin EP sebagai wujud dari proyek solonya dia. Setelah nyari-nyari single andalannya, akhirnya gue dapet juga lagu Only One yang merupakan single pertamanya. Dan setelah gue denger, musiknya emang ngga jauh dari musik The Calling sendiri.

Lagu ini kalo dari liriknya sih kayaknya bisa punya banyak makna. Tapi yang gue tangkep adalah musik ini bercerita tentang perpecahan. Ato kalo boleh diperjelas dikit, tentang peperangan. Cocok juga sih buat keadaan sekarang yang lagi ada perang. Dan banyak juag musisi yang sekarang lagi bikin lagu yang punya tema protes perang. Contohnya U2, di album terbaru mereka yang belom keluar, mereka bakal punya single yang isinya tentang protes perang. Dan mungkin Alex Band juga pengen bersuara lewat lagu ini.

Buat lagunya sendiri, nuansanya agak gelap dikit. Lebih mirip sama single The Calling untuk soundtrack Daredevil, For You. Untuk aransemennya, dia pake piano, beat dilagu ini dibangun pake drum loop. Plus beberapa sound dari Synthetizer. Jadi lagu ini kerasa banget one man show-nya. Lagunya ngga terlalu rame, sederhana aja. Tapi yang lebih penting sih, suara khas Alex Band masih kerasa banget. Walau di lagu ini kita bisa denger kualitas vokal yang sebenernya dari seorang Alex Band.

Sedikit balik lagi ke jalur musik gue yang sebenernya. Akhirnya gue nemu lagu yang lumayan asik. Lagu ini dinyanyiin sama eks pentolan band Bush, Gavin Rossdale. Judul lagunya Love Remains The Same. Udah lama juga ngga denger lagu dia. Maklum, gue ngga gitu ngikutin perkembangan band-bandnya dia. Bahkan lagu Bush yang gue pernah denger cuma Glycerine.

Awalnya gue pikir kalo lagu ini adalah lagu romatic rock. Bisa diliat dari judulnya juga sih. Dan lirik awal lagu ini emang sedikit menyiratkan keromantisan. Tapi ternyata lirik untuk reff nya ngga gitu cocok buat lagu romantis. Karena ada kalimat Here I am without you. Sebenernya sih romantis, cuma agak tragis aja ceritanya.

Tapi bagusnya sih, nuansa yang gue pengen ada di lagu ini. It’s a romantic rock song. Mirip sama Somewhere Out There-nya Our Lady Peace. Akhir-akhir ini emang jarang banget lagu baru yang punya nuansa ini. Makanya gue seneng banget sama lagu ini.

Gue seneng banget coba-coba dengerin lagu-lagu baru, bahkan dari penyanyi yang belom ngetop ato sama sekali belom pernah gue denger. Pagi ini gue dapet lagu dari penyanyi cewek Erin McCarley. Lagu yang gue dapet adalah single pertama dari album pertamanya Love Save The Empty. Judul lagunya adalah Pony (It’s OK). Jujur aja sih, gue belom pernah denger sama sekali sama sekali tentang penyanyi yang satu ini. Makanya gue iseng coba dengerin.

Setelah gue dengerin lagunya, ternyata lagunya lumayan asik. Sedikit Pop. Tapi agak unik. Mungkin agak mirip sama lagu-lagunya Regina Spector, kalo pernah denger. Hehehe, agak bosen juga mungkin pake kata ini, tapi lagu ini bener-bener catchy. Sekali denger kita bisa langsung nikmatin lagunya. Karena emang lagunya enak.

Untuk Erin McCarley sendiri, ngga banyak info yang bisa gue dapet. Mungkin karena dia dia emang penyanyi baru. Albumnya sendiri baru keluar tanggal 6 Januari 2009 kemaren. Jadi mungkin orang banyak yang belom kenal ato bahkan mungkin belom pernah denger lagu ini. Tapi kalo udah denger, mungkin aja kalian bisa suka sama lagu ini. Kalo buat gue pribadi, ini lagu asik-asik aja kok. Walau ngga se-alternative yang gue harapkan.

Bunga Citra Lestari – Kecewa | Song Review & Lyrics

Haha.. Ada cerita yang agak lucu di balik kenapa gue review lagu ini. Sebenernya bukan karena gue suka sama Bunga Citra Lestari (BCL). Bukan juga karena lagunya. Tapi karena lagu ini sering banget dinyanyiin sama tetangga di kosan gue.. Yah.. gue bisa bilang kalo suaranya dibilang bagus ngga juga. (ampunnn ) Gue ngga tau juga sih kenapa dia bisa suka banget sama lagu ini, mungkin lagu ini jadi theme song buat dia kali yah.

Nah, untuk ngebahas lagu ini sendiri. Gue ngga bisa komen banyak sih. Lagu ini lumayan enak. Mellow, santai, cocok sama nuansa lagu yang dibangun dari liriknya. Suara vokal Bunga di lagu ini juga masih khas, walau gue bilang ngga terlalu istimewa. Lagunya sendiri mungkin ngga terlalu umum, gue menghindari kata aneh. Awalnya sih lumayan riang tapi begitu masuk ke reff, gue ngerasa ada yang aneh aja sih. Tapi gue ngga bermaksud untuk mendiskreditkan pencipta lagunya… It’s a nice song.

Well segini aja dulu yak buat review lagu Indonesia pertama. Mudah-mudahan bakal ada banyak lagu-lagu yang ngeracunin otak gue sampe gue review di sini. Maklum, lagu Indonesia banyak racunnya. Hehehe…

India Arie ft. Musiq Solchild – Chocolate High | Song Review & Lyrics

Akhirnya bisa juga ngisi blog lagi setelah sekian lama gue absen. Maklum, lagi lumayan sibuk di kantor. Tapi sambil kerja gue ngga lupa buat hunting lagu-lagu baru yang enak. Dan baru tadi pagi gue dapetin lagu yang asik banget. Groovy dan super catchy. Gue jadi suka banget sama lagu ini. Maklum aja, gue kelamaan denegerin musik rock dan musik cinta.

Lagu ini judulnya Chocolate High yang di nyanyiin sama India Arie ft. Musiq Soulchild. Sebenernya dari nama India Arie sendiri gue udah bisa nebak kalo lagu ini bakal lumayan enak. Dan ngga salah ternyata tebakan gue. Lagu ini punya nuansa Soul yang sedikit Jazzy. Tapi perpaduannya asik banget. Bisa laaa buat sedikit goyangin badan. Groove dan beatnya sih yang lebih bikin asik. Aransemennya juga ngga terlalu rame, sederhana aja, beat Soul tapi aransemen Jazz. Bikin lagu ini jadi enak banget.

Udah lama sih gue ngga denger lagu India Arie. Terakhir ya single pertamanya aja, Video. Gue belom dapet info lebih dalem lagi sih tentang album barunya. Tapi yang gue tau, nanti di bulan februari dia mau rilis album baru Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics. Plus singlenya Beautiful Flower. Apakah lagu Chocolate High ini masuk di album itu? Yaa.. kita tungguin aja album barunya yak. Sementara ini, kita nikmain aja lagu asik ini. Hehehe… Jadi pengen makan Chocolate.  :p

Pagi hari di kantor baru paling afdol kalo sambil dengerin lagu-lagu santai. Dan lagu baru dari Counting Crows ini cocok banget. Apalagi gue lumayan susah buat ngedapetin lagu ini. Susah banget nyarinya. Tapi begitu dapet dan gue donlod pake internet kantor yang sekarang udah ngebut banget, ngga sia-sia perjuangan gue buat nyari lagu ini.

When I Dream Of Michaelangelo, mungkin gue ngga bakal sering-sering ngetik judul lagu ini gara-gara kepanjangan, ada di album paling anyar yaitu Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings. Albumnya sendiri gue belom dapet, tapi gue yakin isinya pasti lagu-lagu yang lumayan asik. Mereka selalu bisa bikin aransemen yang enak di tiap lagunya. Pasti masih inget sama Big Yellow Taxi yang mereka aransemen ulang. Hasilnya lagu itu jauh lebih enak dari versi aslinya, yang dibawain sama Joni Mitchell. Ato Accidentally In Love yang jadi soundtrack Shrek.

Lagu Michaelangelo ini sendiri nuansanya akustik. Kalo loe biasa dengerin musik Norah Jones, nuansanya agak mirip. Suara string gitar akustiknya asik banget. Dipadu sama sound piano yang halus banget. Dan ada unsur country dari Banjo. Lagu ini bisa gue bilang lagu akustik yang kaya banget. Harmonisasi tiap instrumennya pas. Bener-bener lagu yang bisa bikin enjoy.

Liriknya lumayan absurd. Gue belom dapetin maknanya. Bisa jadi karena banyak kiasan ato istilah-istilah yang gue belom tau di lagu ini. Jadi gue bagi aja liriknya, mudah-mudahan loe bisa dapetin maknanya.

Gue sebenernya lumayan susah buat diracunin sama lagu. Terutama lagu RnB. Tapi kemaren ini gue diracunin sama lagu dari Rihanna. Lagunya yang Take a Bow. Gue bisa keracunin gara-gara dalam sehari gue sering banget dengerin lagu ini. Jadi lagu ini terngiang-ngiang di kepala gue. Tapi kalo boleh jujur sih, lagu ini lumayan enak juga. Dan ngga terlalu RnB. Lebih mirip ke pop.

Rihanna emang punya lagu-lagu yang booming banget. Contohnya aja Umbrella. Lagu itu sering banget diputer di radio. Videoklipnya lebih sering lagi. Dan gue harus bilang konsep videoklipnya lumayan unik juga. Tapi secara vokal gue bilang sih ngga terlalu istimewa. Jauh kalo dibandingin sama Beyonce. Tapi suaranya lumayan unik. Mungkin suara dia bisa dibilang memberi nuansa baru untuk musik RnB.

Lagu ini sendiri liriknya bagus. Penuh sama kiasan. Seolah-olah hubungan mereka adalah pertunjukan drama. Lumayan dalem banget maknanya. Bisa diliat kalo cewe di lagu ini tegar banget dan nyantai banget walau udah disakitin sama cowonya. Wel.. gue kasih aja liriknya supaya kalian bisa resapi sendiri.

The Fray – You Found Me | Song Review & Lyrics

Gue penasaran banget sama band The Fray ini. Awalnya sih cuma iseng-iseng liat chart top 40 dan gue nemuin The Fray di list itu. Setelah gue cari info tentang band ini, ternyata band ini punya konsep yang cukup menarik. Konsepnya agak-agak mirip One Republic sih. Band rock dengan tambahan piano. Ato istilah lebih kerennya sih piano-rock band. Dan setelah gue dengerin lagu mereka, ternyata emang pas sama konsepnya.

Lagu ini lumayan susah buat didapetinnya. Harus pake cara curang sedikit baru bisa dapet. Tapi setelah perjuangan yang lumayan berat, gue rasa ngga sia-sia juga. Lagu ini enak dan lumayan asik. Nuansanya lumayan sedih sih. Dari intro piano awal juga udah bisa kerasa nuansanya. Suara Isaac Slade, si vokalis, pas awal masih lembut, tapi menjelang tengah-tengah sampe akhir lagu suaranya mulai agak berat dan kerasa rocknya.

Yang gue suka dari lagu You Found Me ini aransemennya diatur dengan cukup rapi. Seperti gue bilang, konsep band ini piano rock, jadi otomatis sound pianonya harus kedengeran. Tapi sound piano itu ngga mendominasi keseluruhan lagu. Ada bagian-bagian lagu yang lebih terasa nge-rock dengan diisi distorsi gitar yang lumayan kasar. Tapi semuanya diatur dengan rapi yang bikin lagu ini jadi enak.

Liriknya, well… gue harus bilang liriknya lumayan dalem. Ceritanya kayak seseorang yang lagi berdoa sama Tuhannya. Tapi makna intinya tetep positif. Walau sekilas kayaknya orang ini lagi marah sama Tuhannya itu.

The Fray sendiri sebenernya udah lumayan lama berdirinya. Mungkin di Indonesia ngga begitu terkenal. Gue sendiri baru tau dan baru denger karya mereka yang satu ini. Dan jadi tambah penasaran lagi sama lagu-lagu mereka yang laen. Mudah-mudahan sebagus dan seasik lagu You Found Me ini.

Swicthfoot – Awakening | Song Review & Lyrics

Gue suka banget sama Swicthfoot. Gue bilang band ini bisa mengkombinasikan antara pop dengan rock tapi ngga terlalu mellow. Intinya sih mereka bisa bikin lagu rock yang tetep komersil. Dan pagi ini gue baru denger lagi lagu mereka, yang ngga bisa dibilang baru juga, tapi gue baru denger. Lumayan telat sih dapetnya. Soalnya album ini udah dirilis dari tahun 2007. Hehehe..

Judul lagunya adalah Awakening. Lagu ini ada di album mereka Oh Gravity!. Album itu sendiri udah dirilis dari tahun 2007. Dan sampe sekarang gue belom punya lagu itu. Gue sendiri dapet lagu ini pas gue buka yutup dan di situ dikasih referensi video klip yang oke buat account gue, dan di situlah gue nemu videoclipnya.

Lagu ini sendiri enak banget. Seperti gue bilang, ngerock tapi masih tetep komersil. Itu yang bikin gue suka banget sama Switchfoot. Beat di lagu ini lumayan kenceng. Aransemen seperti yang biasa mereka lakuin di lagu-lagu mereka, lumayan banyak nada-nada yang dibelokin. Jadi ngga standar tapi tetep asik. Suara vokal Jon Foreman juga asik banget di lagu ini. Dia banyak banget maenin variasi nada, dan juga agak sedikit teriak di lagu ini.

Tapi yang unik pas gue liat videoclipnya. Di sini mereka ngambil tema game. Di videoclip itu switchfoot jadi boneka buat game guitar hero dan dance-dance revolution. Videoclip yang unik banget. Entah mungkin buat nyepet game yang pada saat itu booming banget kali yah. Tapi konsepnya tetep menarik. Dan lagunya sendiri asik. Jadi tanpa ada kata-kata buat ngebagusin lagi, gue kasih aja deh liriknya…
